No EAX in Windows Vista?

For some time now we know that Microsoft's latest OS Windows Vista will not support Creative's EAX in games because of the new driver model. Because of that all environmental effect would have to be processed by the CPU reducing overall performance or reduce the overall sound experience.

All that would mean that it does not make a difference if you have a older SoundBlaster Audigy or a X-Fi Elite Pro and that you won't be able to use the X-Fi's dedicated hardware, right? Wrong. Custom PC managed to get information from Creative Labs revealing that their new X-Fi Vista driver will support EAX afterall. To confirm this we will actually have to wait till December when the new X-Fi driver is supposed to be released. Nevertheless it seems like a very smart move from Creative to boost their sales during the holiday season.
